We Pay for Online Marketing
The rules are simple in online marketing. After all, it is still marketing in its modern form. For producers to sell a product, they need to show the benefits that their products offer. The product has to be good for it to stay in the market. But the basic rule is that first impression should sell. To do this, a medium is needed where the buyers will know the product and where the producers can show the consumers that to pay in exchange of their product is good business.
There have been different media in the past. All of which represented the latest technology of the time. Since the printing press was invented in 1450, it became easier to reproduce written materials. This was the advent of media advertising through the newspaper. As the adoption rate of newspapers as commercial medium increased, so did the money that producers pay to advertise their product in this particular medium. Then in the 1860s, the existence of radio waves was predicted. This electromagnetic waves have the capacity to transmit music, speech, and other data through the air. We now use this discovery for many purposes such as in cordless phones, in remote controlled toys, etc. But for advertising, it was the radio that made us listen to shampoo products and the like. And then in 1927, television was invented. This gave room for visual representation of what was then a parade of words and testimonials on the radio. Now we are faced with an even more interactive media – the Internet. Today, consumers can gather information about a product and even buy them online. There also have been hundreds of industries that were born from online marketing.
Communication is, in a lot of ways, the key for selling products. The more advance the medium, the higher chances of reaching a broader audience. Internet is the new medium and online marketing is the new commercialization. For the producers, it is the way to faster profit. For the consumers, it’s paying for their money’s worth. And for most, it is new industry for more opportunities ahead.
